Welcome to the University of Michigan Administration Evaluation Committee (AEC) Website

History

Since AY2004/2005, AEC has conducted annual surveys of the U-M academic administrators of all three University of Michigan campuses — Ann Arbor, Flint and Dearborn. Every year, the members of the Faculty Senate had the opportunity to evaluate the University President, Chancellors of Flint and Dearborn, and all Provosts, Deans, and Department Chairs of the three campuses. The results of the surveys are posted on this website and can be found below.

Latest Survey and Results

The latest AY2022/2023 survey has been carried out using a modified questionnaire and computational infrastructure. A total of 6,423 members of the Faculty Senate have been invited to participate, and 2,250 responses have been received (35% response rate). The numerical results of this survey are available in Tableau, and free-form anonymous advice and confidential remarks included in the survey have been submitted to the appropriate administrators.

Along with the survey, in February 2023, AEC carried out an Impact Evaluation Poll to assess the effect of the AEC annual survey on the administrators' operation. All Deans and Department Chairs of all three campuses were invited to participate (a total of 134), and the response rate was 62% for Deans and 49.5% for Department Chairs. The results of this poll are posted on this website as well. The above-mentioned modification of the AEC survey questionnaire has been carried out based on the administrators’ recommendations provided in the Impact Evaluation Poll.

We hope that the information presented on this website will be useful for the administrators and Faculty Senate members alike.
